It hasn’t been that long since his highly anticipated album drop that captivated the culture and acted as a sort of ‘re-invention’ for this MC. As he comes back with the same producer who helped make his last album, I already know I can guarantee excellence! So let’s talk about it. This is the brand new single by MC - Maurice and Producer - Koba Dera, and together they drop this compelling 2 minutes and 04 seconds of audio that is bound to keep you engaged throughout! So let’s start with that MC work. You know, sometimes you have to step back from an artist for a moment to realise just how strong his performance is. Ain’t gonna lie, it’s been a minute since I last heard -ALL THAT GLITTERS since its review, but my god does Maurice hit on every single angle. What makes him such a unique rapper is his sense of charisma, his heavy-set tones, and raw delivery style, as well as his vivid energy and lyricism that makes each verse feel like a theatrical story being told in sonic form! Especially on this track, I love his more methodical pacing. It gives his wordplay that surreal edge to it that makes you hang on every word. The intensity that comes from his bars is truly astounding and is one of the main reasons why I’m gripped to his MC work! Not many people have that same talent; nonetheless, combined with the uncanny flow and sharp vocabulary, this man is moving on a whole different wavelength! Speaking of different wavelengths, we have Koba. A man who I was fucking with before even his work with Maurice! A man who is truly gifted in his craft in making any instrumentation he touches sound cinematic, and this is no exception to that rule! Firstly, I love the use of those creepily, slow-paced layers. From those deep and eerie piano strings that are combined with that skeleton drum beats and this shrieking chord progression in the background that makes for a truly horrifying instrumental that is perfect for the track’s namesake! This is one of those beats that would bring forth those murderous thoughts that have been locked deep away in your brain. This song is the summoning call of Freddy Kruger, are you tough enough to survive the night? Once again, another dope collaboration between Maurice and Koba. It’s as if they share the same mind and act accordingly! If you were down with them during the last album rollout, then you better be here for this!
