Brand new remix tape for the Umbrella Collective Hitman! The man who has one of the best discographies in the history of the art, and now under the powerhouse production of Coltrane with a fresh 13 tracks featuring the likes of -Josiah The Gift -Pro Dillinger -Allah Preme -Snotty And if you loved the first offering, this one is an improvement and update on the original in every single aspect! This thing feels more grand, more complex, and more funky all at once. The one aspect that Coltrane does better than anyone else (at least in my opinion) is the way he can perfectly formulate instrumentals that suit the artist completely! Never once have I heard one of his projects and thought it was ‘lacklustre’ or ‘awkward’. I’ve always found it compelling and powerful because that’s the amount of care he puts into these beats! He understands the cadence, charisma, and complexity of Diamond. He understands how the production over the years has impacted him and made him such a renowned name in the culture, and so he’s trying his best to replicate that magic with his own takes and music, and it’s that care in his art that makes all these releases such a big deal! This whole project feels like a masterful score from start to finish! I love how Coltrane adds a bunch of skits and snippets to further celebrate that theatrical nature of the record! Leaning more towards a ‘MF DOOM’ type album in its cinematic energy! Which is the perfect platform for a kingpin like Diamond to go OFF on! This is the kind of album meant to be played in a row! Of course, if you want to listen to specific bangers out of context, it will hit, but you’ll be doing yourself a disservice by not experiencing the soundtrack in its complete form! If there’s any rapper you shouldn’t be betting against, it’s Diamond Dallas. This man has proven time and time again why he’s the best going right now, and of course, on an album like this, his best verses are highlighted to prove that fact! (Which, in all seriousness, you could play his whole discography, and it would count as his best work) because he doesn’t have a bad one! He’s never had a bar out of place, never had a second where it shouldn’t be. He’s always maintained a strong and stone-cold charisma across his pen game. He’s world-renowned for his ability to craft legendary one-liners and stay on the beats unlike anyone else has done before or since! He has the combination of natural swagger, deadly wordplay, and a specific level of chemistry with the producers that no one can attempt to replicate! He’s, of course, accompanied by only his most loyal of brothers, each man more than familiar with Diamond and can utilise verses that synchronise with his style to a tee! All these men share a certain kind of bond in the industry that’s lacking with most. The ruthless atmosphere, the raw and no-nonsense attitude, as well as the obvious skill each man has, coming together to create banger after undeniable manager makes for a listen that does more than just celebrate the man but emphasises WHY he’s the man right now and why his team run shit! Does there need to be a reason for another Coltrane X Diamond tape?
