Sometimes it takes a ‘MAD MAN’ to create classics. This man has had an incredible career so far while working with a range of your favourite artists, and it seems he’s continuing that formula on this one because, as they say, ‘if it’s not broke, why fix it?’ And with these handful of tracks, he comes in stronger than he has in a period! Let’s go! This is the brand-new EP by Producer Jamar Johnson and MC’s -Sy Ari Da Kid -David Jame$ -Premo The Great -Anthony Kannon -Shaun Lib -Griot Noy Another strong list of wordsmiths that come equipped strong and lyrically loaded! If we continue with the premise of the production, we have these five tracks, 14 minutes of pure excellence of execution. They should call him Jamar Hart the way he’s locking in those technical pieces! Let’s talk about the opening track -Delirious Thoughts as we hear this uplifting jazz spirit track with those gorgeous vocal snippets and thudding drums that all come together into this strong, groovy song that is infectious as hell! On track two -Right Or Wrong, we have a more toned-down but equally gorgeous track with a combination of plucked strings, methodically paced drums, and what sounds like some chipmunk-style vocal loops and some subtle jazz horns in the background! There’s also some light, sparkling keys deep in the back that I can hear every now and then to give some extra texture to the track! We can discuss the track -Enchanted Event that is the definition of ‘Smooth As Hell’. The vocal harmonies utilised on this track are fucking angelic! Man, they gave me goosebumps, incredible! These are paired with some glistening piano chords and hypnotic drums and bass! This might be my favourite track on the whole EP for the divine nature of it! Every element is out of this world! On track four, we have -A Note To Self with another mellow interpretation of instrumentation that is just as smooth and lush as the rest have been! On this one, we have a bit more subtle vocals layered throughout the track that’s accompanied by some thick bass and more mesmerising drum usage, and I can vaguely hear some keys in the background as intricate as ever! On the finale track -My Good Book, Jamar ends the project on a funky note with a song that would pass as a -Jackson 5 Type track! With those mellow vocal loops, a minimal take on the strings and drums that leave a rhythmic feel in your headphones! He left the most stripped-back track for the finale, and it honestly fits! It has an introspective aesthetic to it that I thought was great! As far as the MC work goes, I felt everyone was on god time with this one. Each MC brought it like I’ve never heard them before! I feel like Jamar is becoming another staple of ‘quality check’ that you expect from cats like -WSG -Dr Dre people who never let their standards fall no matter who wants to hope on the track, and I feel he is setting his own version of this where each feature he has on gives us the best they’ve dope period! With only 14 minutes, there wasn’t much time for all the rappers, and that’s what makes it that much better knowing that in the limited time span, they all killed it, brought some of the heaviest bars and verses I’ve heard all year, and helped push Jamar’s ever-growing legacy as a producer that much further into infamy! If I had to choose a favourite bar on the whole EP, it would have to be at the very start where Sy goes -‘If you don’t sell enough weed for your bitch to smoke for free, you not player’ to have that be the opening line on the project was so fucking dope it had me mean-mugging before I even had the chance to sit down! Not only this, but even though there was a variety of MC’s per track, they all came together in divided synchronicity to make a track list that felt in tune with the rest of the five songs and helped make this EP feel strong and sonically cohesive! He definitely chose the perfect cast for this atmospheric venture! Have you had a chance to peep this one yet? Might be the toughest 14 minutes you’ll hear in 2026! Shoutout to everyone involved!
