It was January last year we got the first of Vincent Pryce albums, the second came in October and now we hit the trilogy. These two have continued to set the standards for how quality of albums should look and sound. In fact their second effort was one of my favourite albums of that year and still in my replay history and this new one feels like it could have the same effect! Let’s talk about it! This is the brand new album and trilogy in the collaboration series between MC -Slik Jack and Producer -Vincent Pryce and together they drop this 14 song, 38 minute experience with the likes of -Daniel Son -Bub Styles -Pro Dillinger -Estee Nack -Jay Royale A lot of similar names from the last album and they all come equipped and loaded to drop absolute BANGERS! And just like the other two in the series we have a break out effort by Slik to give us these hard fought, relentless and rough around the edges delivery that I’ve seen very few being able to master and match the way he’s done! The moment you hear his vocals lace a track you’re instantly absorbed by his mean mugging voice that instantly takes over! I could listen to days his fluency on tracks! He brings the combination of hard hitting 90’s homage wordplay combined with perfect understanding of the beats and when to drop his lines so that you get the most phenomenal one-two experience that never misses the beat! What makes Slik such a captivating performer is how he commands the album! When he’s rapping everyone shuts the fuck and listens. From his devastatingly gritty tone to his impressive lyricism it all comes together in a way that you can’t help but pay attention to! His vivid street poetry fused with his brash and abrasive approach makes him a one of a kind rapper! His chemistry with the various rappers are second to none. He showcases unrivalled synchronicity with any man he’s on and that’s especially true for the lyrical phenoms on here! I couldn’t even choose a favourite because they all blew me away! The definition of a solid feature list! When we discuss the production aspect we talk about the Ying to Slik’s Yang! The man who brings the atmosphere and score to the incredible levels of lyricism provided by Jack. Across these 14 tracks we hear a somehow even more developed and powerful soundtrack then the previous one (and that says a lot) and there was a small handful of tracks that stood out most! Let’s talk about it! I wanna discuss the first official track -Block Raiderz firstly I love those opening sequenced haunted piano keys that make you feel like you’re listening to a horror movie! That interlude evolves into this monstrous boom Bap track that consists of those subtle piano keys, sharp chord progressions, what sounds like some distorted flute and rhythmic as hell drums! This is also the track with the dominant verses by Daniel-Son and Bub Styles! Truly a masterpiece pairing! We have the track -Light Speed which stuck out to me for its peculiar sound and feel to it! Firstly that opening sequence with those what sound like asain vocals going off in that strange pitch that later evolves into this out there instrumental with those fast past repetitive chord loops that is combined with some sharp strings and minimal drums! This one is as ‘out there’ as you’ll ever find. Towards the chorus aspect you hear some light vocal harmonies but other then that this one is a truly bizarre yet infectious track! What about the track -HeedWave which sounds ripped straight out of the late 90’s or early 2000’s with those luscious bass strings, mesmerising drums and this angelic vocal harmony that takes over the track! This one feels like it would have been featured in the prime G Funk/West Coast era banger list back in the day! An instrumental that feels nostalgic in execution! This might be one of the strongest trilogies we’ve heard in a minute. 3 stand out albums with the third instalment possibly the best yet! Strong features, ridiculous production and phenomenal performances! Let’s fucking go!
