That is a HUGE list of features in both departments and all names included hit as hard as baseball bat and help provide M-Dot with a killer experience that will undoubtedly be talked about all across 2026 and beyond!
If we discuss the production aspect first we can review a range of songs that each have their own emotional impact that when paired with M-Dot (and company’s) verses feel like your listening to a grand hip hop experience that you probably won’t find elsewhere!
For example we can discuss tracks like -Right Now. This one starts off with those choir reminiscent vocal harmonies that give off a 2000’s hip hop feel to it! This is combined with some relentless bass notes and thudding drum patterns that make this a minimally layered instrumental with enough force to create a strong atmosphere!
We have tracks like -Not The Same which showcases a soulful cut with more gorgeous vocal lines that have a hint of chipmunk sound to them again reminiscent of the early 2000’s! This one has some groovy repeating bass loops, some tweaked chord progressions, what sounds like some light violin in the background and a rhythmic case of the drums to add a bit of texture to the track!
The song -Different Price stood out to me for it’s larger than life aura to it that’s combined with those slick electric guitar notes, sharp chord progressions in that mesmerising pattern, scattered keys and methodically charged drums that makes this one feel like a film montage score where the main character is getting out of the slums and moving up in their life! A truly beautiful track!
As we start to discuss the rapping side of things, I’d wager a fair amount that this is the most clean, crisp and coordinated we’ve heard M-Dot to date! From his diverse styles on the tracks to his incredible story telling and lyricism to his overall performances on the tracks he’s really giving us his all and we fan feel it!
Across these 14 tracks (and one bonus) we hear M-Dot on some grand author shit. We hear him turn all his verses into must listen vocabulary exhibitions where he dominates the beats with his smooth flow, attention to detail on the tracks, trademark word placement, strong charisma the whole nine yards he shows it all on this one!
He walks the tough fine line between making his present felt and strong as a solo artist and working fluently alongside all the ridiculous MC’s he’s brought to the forefront!
He’s a man with an adventurous mindset that I feel is always trying something different across the projects he works on. Regarding this one he’s going straight traditional hip hop feel from the golden era but placing it in the modern day with some of the dopest beats, producers and verses with the top talent in the industry (both underground and mainstream alike)
So, what are you waiting for? His Notebook may have no light but your phone has access to Bandcamp so you have no excuse! Tune in now!
