This might be my new favourite BONEWESO intro to a track! Turning the segment into a gaming inspiration? Nah that’s tough. It’s no shock that I’ve been a fan of him since day one! As the sole features who came in ready to kill the tracks! Now, I want to talk BONE first. Because I feel on this record he’s bringing back that hypnotic, theatrical and surreal looped instrumental style that made him such a powerhouse figure out the gate! The type of sounds that I heard on ‘Infinite Wave’ that made me appreciate him since day one and on this he’s bringing that same formula but with an extra touch of gritty ambiance attached to it! Let’s get into how. Firstly we can talk the track -EARLMANIGAULT in where we hear one Bone’s most mesmerising beats with those wavy/echoing chord progressions in two different layers and tones that remain throughout the whole track and is accompanied by some lush, slow paced drums and thick bass! What I love about this track is that it feels atmospheric and spacey without going overboard or trying to do anything crazy with it! Just a few well timed pieces to create art! There’s tracks like -GOINGCRAZY which has this Egyptian feel to it. The kind of sounds I’d expect to hear on a movie like -The Mummy with those surreal strings that have that haunting quality to it that’s met with some subtle keys, thudding drum work and some rigid bass lines that give this track an extra layer of texture! This is also the track that has the one and only ??? On it as he kills the end of the track! We have the track -ONTHERUN which has I’d say the most adventurous sound on the whole album! Becuase it starts off with that melodic and soft approach with that heavy consistent bass, sharp keys that has a wavering effect that comes in and out BUT then out of nowhere you hear those explosive violin strings that change the whole tone of the track! This feels like the interlude to a anime battle! Like the anticipation part looped all over again! it also helps that Estee Nack comes on to massacre the instrumental and make himself the final boss like Yujiro Hanma! We are all familiar with the track -PESO this was the lead single to the album and it still rocks hard no matter how many times I hear it. From those sharp echoing chords to the plucked funky strings and hypnotic drum patterns! Again the genius in BONE to use such minimal layers and create one of the most replay heavy instrumentals of the year is insane! When we discuss the MC work we talk about a man who with his pen and voice have moved mountains. A man who hasn’t spit a wack verse yet and has revolutionised what it means to have good flow because he’s evolved that shit like the final form pokemon! The rest of the game is a timid Charmander while he’s ontop of the world on some arrogant charizard shit! On this album it’s almost sickening just how well he suits the production. These are two men who have been in the same circles for years now and so it was only a matter of time before this album came to be but now that it has and we can see the dominance of having the prime MC and the prime producer coming together as one? That’s the definition of a wrap! BlueHill’s iconic luscious flow is pretty much the precise counterpart to Bone’s luscious lopping beats! They compliment each other unlike any other duo can! Like two sides of the same coin coming together for the best listening experience you can expect! It’s as if they can read each others mind and act accordingly. Blue’s unique brand of artistic street poetry meeting Bone’s cinematic soundtrack? Perfection. Same goes for the features! Only two but those two could take anyone else in the game with ease. 23 incredible soldiers coming to invade the track and In the small handful of times prior that Bluehill rapped alongside either of these men it’s been substantially TOUGH! And this time proves no different. Bluegill has been establishing his brand, image and reputation for years as one of the most iconic and deadly players in the MC landscape and performances like these with features of this caliber and a producer this renown behind you it’s safe to say he’s made it as one of the best!
