1. When did you two start working on this album? And who reached out to who for it?
:Bill actually reached out to me sometime last year. I sent over a batch of beats, and he gravitated toward the ones that really connected with him.
2. Was there a specific sound you wanted to create specifically for Bluehill?
:From the start, I felt his voice would shine over soulful and stripped-down production. That was the vibe I focused on when putting together beats for him.
3. What’s your process when working on a whole album worth of production? Or is it different for each record?
:When I'm producing for an artist, I usually picture their flow, cadence, and vocal tone in my head first. Then I build the music around that vision so everything feels natural and tailored to them.
So far, it's all happened pretty organically.
4. Is there a process to how you choose the features for a record? Do you just listen to certain instrumentals and go ‘yeah this guy would suit this’ or is it something else?
:The collaborations usually come from artists we already have relationships with and who we feel can bring something special to the track.
5. Was there a specific beat on here that you found either most fun to make or equally more challenging to get right than you expected?
:Honestly, I enjoy the entire beat-making process. Every track has its own creative spark, so I don't really look at one as being more fun or challenging than another.
6. After making so many records and songs over the years, how do you maintain such high quality and make sure your music doesn’t end up being stale or lacklustre?
:I try not to overthink that side of things. At the end of the day, I'm focused on making the kind of music I'd want to listen to myself. If it resonates with others, that's a bonus.
7. If you were stuck on a stranded island and could only keep 2 albums with you for the rest of your life from any genre or artist/band what would you choose?
:Big pun capital punishment and a Teodoro Reyes sentimientos.
