Honestly, this series is slowly becoming some of my favourites right now. It has a level of abrasiveness that I find rather addictive. Their first episode showed potential but this new one? As the old school would say ‘is the bees knees’ and I guarantee you will all love it! Let’s go! This is the brand new EP and Sequel by MC’s Declan The Celebrity and Declan back in the production seat orchestrating this 5 track score with the sole feature of -Anthony Kannon! As I said above this one feels like the natural progression in every single way on the strong attributes that the first one showcased! I want to start with the production because this might be his best work yet! Declan outdid himself on these tracks! Track one -THE PARANORMAL SMOKE INVITATIONAL right off the bat what I love about this one is the fact it starts off at 100 Miles an hour, already talking to each other with a loaded beat, no waiting needed! This song has this lush stoner atmosphere to it from those funky bass lines, rock and roll style drum work with that high pitch strings that go off in that 6-7 second interval! Just everything about this beat is the perfect introduction to this packed EP! On track two -GHOULSTYLE we hear this funky nostalgia track. This reminds me of an 80’s swingers club type vibe! You’ve got some of the most rhythmic bass I’ve heard in my life in that underlying loop that’s combined with that consistent key progressions that push to the forefront every 3-4 seconds! These are accompanied by some more crisp drum work and this one makes me want to smoke a fat cigar in a club wearing an expensive suit! Captivating as fuck! On track three -JAMES EARL CASH we get this ambient/lo fi instrumental vibe that reminds me of early 2010’s OFWGKTA Earl Sweatshirt aura! You’ve got those dark damn near distorted and muffled keys in that few seconds loop that is met with that choir vocal harmonies deep in the background, sickening bass lines and some methodically charged drums! This song literally transported me back to my teenage years when OF was my shit! Such a phenomenal beat! On track four -NICHE HITS FROM ‘64 we have this more messy soulful vibe with those Jazz style chords that honestly feel abstract and forced to fit in this song but it does give a strong experimental vibe to the song so that’s a plus! On top of that looming chords we have some delicate keys in the background with some more slow drums and subtle bass this time around! I’d have to say this probably the most obscure piece of music on the EP but it definitely stands out! On the final track -PURPLE SUNSET we go off with a rhythmic surprisingly acoustic/RnB bang! That intro is consist of some group talking with some acoustic strings that evolve into this slow moving instrumental with these surreal keys that glisten throughout the entire track with some snail paced drums and some angelic strings that damn near put me into a state of sleep! Such a relaxing way to end the album! This is also the track with the one feature on with Anthony bringing his top tier performances to the forefront! Man, as far as the MC work goes it’s just brilliant all around I don’t really know how else to put it. These guys are putting the FUN back in FUNDAMENTALS. Because we hear both of them for just shy of 20 minutes spitting ridiculous brash bars, talking their shit, going back and fourth sharpening on what they brought to the table the first time around and they sound like they are legitimately having a blast doing so! Yes they are both talented MC’s, yes they have obvious chemistry as we’ve seen a handful of times already prior but what makes this a stand out record is the energy! it’s the attitude and atmosphere! They aren’t taking anything too seriously and sometimes that’s when the biggest gems are found. They aren’t acting tough or talking extreme street slang drug talk or trying to be profound or deep they are just two bothers making kick ass beats and rapping their asses off on them and there’s just something about that stripped back, down to basics mentality that is infectious to listen to! No wasted motion, no bullshit skits or interludes just 5 dope beats with 5 cases of satisfying verses and flows that i guarantee will impress all hip hop heads. They are out here making the vibes they feel like because they can and that’s the best way to go. Of course Anthony killed his part to and again just rapping to be dope and he nails it! If you’re looking for a fun and adrenaline filled boost then you’ve come to the right EP! Listen to this once and I guarantee you’ll be left thoroughly impressed!
