Well, I wasn’t expecting this duo. For one I was covering before I even established a pay system for my reviews! The other I discovered not too long after and both have shown a strong process in the underground in their own specific lanes! Now they are coming together for a listening experience that is different for both and make it a grand finale for the listeners! This is the brand new album by MC -HERE$ JOHNNY and Producer -CLIFTON NEAL and between these 11 tracks we have the likes of -Heartbreak Julio -Quazii D Sol -STADIX to help establish some outside influence on this already stacked record! I feel like for me personally. A Johnny album is best experienced in occasional batches. It’s like a holiday or a special event! His level of intensity can be best felt and appreciated under these circumstances and that’s why this album hits me so fucking hard! I can absorb his rage and anger. Properly sit down and visualise his meanings, statements and political points. I can provide the ultimate analysis on this record because of the fact it’s been a minute since I last heard one! I saver these records like I would drinking alcohol. Making sure to not overdose and that way feeling 10x better when I indulge and on this record be goes absolutely HARD! It seems to me that over the years his lyrics have focused more on current events, political issues and weeding out the fakes from the real. He’s like his in his every day life and that’s how I know his verses are genuine! Also a point I don’t see too many talking on, is his ability to blend perfectly his verse that leads into the chorus! (That sounds like a given) I know but not all can execute it as smoothly as he does! There’s almost no break between the tone of his last few bars to the chorus! It’s soothing to the ears (despite his intense performances) He’s as rough around the edges as ever. Never a man to mince his words or take a backseat to anyone! He can turn a normal verse into a powerhouse session that captivates the audience in the most dynamic of ways! When we discuss the production aspect. We hear what I would consider is the best contrast to Johnny’s explosive voice! Which is the most soulful atmosphere you’ve heard in your life. This is where -CLIFTON comes into the picture! A man who has the ability of turning instrumentals into cinematic scores! For example we have tracks like -No Way which has that ridiculous opening verse by Heartbreak Julio! But the beat itself is angelic as all hell (oxymoron of a line) but you’ve got that passionate choir chords that is combined with those surreal drum work and those glistening keys in the background! There’s also a hint of Jazz chords that come in an occasional pattern to give extra texture to the song! There’s the song -Life Over A Couple Bricks which is just gorgeous melodies straight to the ears! You’ve got those out of this world piano keys that remain at the forefront of the track! There’s also those hypnotic plucked strings and what sounds like some sharp violin in the background! You’ve also got some stripped back drums! On this track it legit sounds like Here$ Is straight up losing his voice at how hard he’s straining it! Absolutely amazing performance by him! The song -Snatch, Grab, and Clap PU$$Y’s not only had a fun title but this old school, classical vibe to it! From those beautiful strings that’s combined with what sounds like some subtle jazz horns and some funky drums! We also have some light bass strings that help provide an extra layer of texture! Overall this was just as good as I was expecting it to be! COLD BLOODED on the rap side and Ocean Breezy on the Production side! The perfect fusion!
