Now this is a producer I’ve had the year to get a taste of through various singles featuring the top of line MCs. A formula I’ve seen done countless times but not as effectively as him! Definitely a choice for the new front runner of producers and with this new drop it should also be clear to everyone else! Let’s talk about it! This is the brand new EP by Producer Mickey Blue and it features the likes of -Apathy -Ferris Blusa -ETO -Spit Gemz -StressWon -CRIMEAPPLE -Barboah -Rasheed Chappell -Celp Titled -M-Dot -Starvin B And cuts by the legendary Tone Spliff This thing is the definition of ‘powerful’ in every sense of the word. From the instrumentals to the performances and everything in between. It says alot about Mickey to bring on such a huge talent to the forefront as to best test his beats against the best in the culture and that’s exactly what we get here! Now if we start with the production side of things we get to discuss a handful of songs that feel like prime ever boom Bap. I’m talking that late 2010’s early 2020’s era! Heavy, unapologetic and in your face type beats that I know the culture has been eating up with his variety of singles teasing this EP! From tracks like -Veil Of Reality with that theatrical vocal snippet at the start that evolves into the full fledged track with those rhythmic drum beats, wavey plucked strings and thick bass alongside some distorted sounding chords that sound like a echoing ghost sound effect from the super Mario games! Either way this track has enough thick layers to grow hair on your chest! What about the track -Back Alley Doctrine that provides a more eerie and haunting view on the beat with those violent drum pattern that’s combined with those wavering chord progressions in that shaky motion that makes you feel like your in a haunted house! There’s also this subtle but equally as disturbing ambient noise in the background that helps establish the devastating atmosphere! There’s even tracks like -Garden State Of Mind we have a look into more gritty terrain with those sharp piano keys, skeletal drums and deep bass that lets its minimalists aura speak for itself! There’s also this occasional ghostly sound that appears in and out! Once again there’s the supreme cuts by Tone Spliff amplifying this track to its next level! I think the name quality speaks for itself on this one! If you fuck with the culture you should understand the level of heat this album has with names that most would kill to work with as they have masses some of the strongest discographies we’ve seen in decades From the fact the first official track in we have Apathy Ana Ferris on the same track? That’s how you begin the track? Two lyrical heavyweights going blow for blow is ridiculous! Hell the outro song STARTS with Celph Titled! Another ‘Army Of The Pharaohs’ star! You couldn’t ask for a stronger man to start the track and let alone the fact he’s accompanied by the likes of -M-Dot and Starvin B! You’ve even got tracks with the notorious ETO alongside Spit Gemz! A ruthless bond that no one could have seen coming on this track but one that worked out more powerfully then ever! Two of the grimmest in the game going verse for verse! A name I was shocked to see on this project was CRIMEAPPLE! This man has the definition of ‘peak discography’ of the past near decade and his verses are the key. Across his track he opens up with his classic bout of street poetry in his charismatic and smooth delivery that sets the tone for the other names to come in Barboah and Rasheed Chappell who both killed their parts as well! Two men I haven’t heard prior but who now will be on my radar! The same can be said for -StressWon a name prior to this I wasn’t too familiar with but who impressed me immensely on his track and especially how Tone worked on that track alongside him? Made the song itself that much stronger! So, what are you waiting for? A formal invitation? Go stream this EP now! I guarantee you it’s worth
