I gotta be honest, out of all the types of tracks I’d be covering involving this man. This is definitely not one I expected! A cypher style single? That’s definitely new territory for me and one I can’t wait to get into, so fuck delaying any longer! Let’s get into it! This is the brand new mega single by MC -Memphis Reigns that is Produced by -Profound Of the Non-Combatants and we see Memphis bring with him the likes of -Hastyle -Taggin-T -AthenaA With -John Doe of 1200 Hobos on the scratches! So, let’s start with the beat first. On this one we have an immediate funky rhythm that combines the elements of that infectious Jazz Horn section that gives the instrumental the lively feel and sound to it. I also was fond of those intricate keys at the start of the song, the first 2 seconds with those echoing key parts made for a mini build up that I felt added to the texture of the track nicely! as we get into the track, we start to hear a more intense level of pianos in that repetitive loop that brings a strong late 90’s feel to the track that is absolutely adored! The type of instrumentation layer that makes you bop your head! Combine that with a rock and roll style drum pattern and you have the recipe for an instrumental that is perfectly suited for a cypher style track of this magnitude! Of course those luscious scratches by John Doe hit the nail in the head for this track! When we discuss the actual MC side of things. The first thing I find impressive is the length of the song. 2 minutes and 40 to feature verses from all those rappers and time for the scratches? That’s impressive and it’s utilised beautifully! From the high energy, radiant vocals to the charisma and original performances that leaves a distinctive and unique feel on each artist involved They all help maintain the overall vibe of the track and its intense cypher atmosphere which I fucked with a lot! If I have to play favourites? (Sorry Memphis) but to me the MVP of this track was AthenA! Just like the goddess of strategy and wisdom! She comes in vocabulary sharpened, shied of gritty flows and a tone so raw and in your face that you could imagine her frontlines of the battle leading the charge with her war cries and combat expertise! (Which in this case would be her dope verses!) Definitely the most interesting track I’ve covered by Memphis but damn is it not fire! The ridiculous company he invites, the dope production and scratches! It all boiled down to a short precise cypher that is anything but sweet!
