Well, I can tell you now I never thought I’d get an EP name like that! To honor one of the best chefs in the world? As someone who binge watches shows like ‘Masterchef’, ‘Hells Kitchen’ and ‘Parts Unknown’ this is definitely one of the more sick titles I’ve seen in the year! With that being said, it’s time to sharpen those knife’s because it’s COOKING TIME! This is the brand new EP by MC -OcBully with Production from -Em.Saint -Silla DR -Krome.Beats -Wanako.nsc And features from -Nyeusi Loe & Estee Nack. (23 Incredible Royalty) Very similar to his break out record with -Tremendiss back in the year the production aspect is the same dark, gritty boom Bap vibes that will melt your face off if you aren’t ready! These handful of producers know how to blend the perfect balance of ‘Classical and Theatrical’ in the most gruesome way possible! For example we have the finale track -STILL WIT IT which sounds like a fine tuned closing interlude to a magnificent score! From those luscious Piano keys that take a life of their own! That’s combined with some choking thick (pause) bass strings that truly felt suffocating! With what sounds like violin subtly syncing with the other instrumentation and those minimal drums? You’ve got an instrumental that you can’t hope to escape! In fact, rolling to the top with the track -RIP ANTHONY BOURDAIN where we hear that above mentioned prime boom Bap influence! On this one you hear those cold blooded keys running throughput the instrumental with those sadistically heavy drum pattern with what sounds like a middle eastern chord progressions that makes this a true stripped back atmosphere that feels unnerving! And that outro? With Anthony himself speaking added some real solid texture to the track! The song -PRIDE GET YOU KILT is as textbook as it gets! It’s the rawest track on the record with the fusion of that intro vocal harmony and plucked string orchestration that gives off that dramatic vibe! This one Also has two layers of strings, one is a bass one that’s upfront and in your face while the other is grooving in the background! As well as some sharp chord progressions and some thick drums that helps create such an intense effect! Not to mention the addition of the legend himself ESTEE NACK! Killing the feature verse! When we discuss the MC side of things, we hear a man (who just like his break out album) brought a more cinematic side to street poetry! A man who made the same cliche topics and scenarios we hear week to week feel that much more vidid and detailed. A man who emphasises the importance of story telling and breaking down the lines, sentences and building up the verses to make them feel either passionate, descriptive or hear felt! We hear a variety of lines from him ranging from down right drug talk, murder bars to hustle mindsets, and his life in general. He’s the kind of rapper that can literally rap about anything and make it sound compelling! Similar to how a Jay-Z, Scarface or Pusha-T would do it! (Different styles I know) but they all have the same ability to draw you in and keep you focused and locked into the verses and stories they be telling! Bringing the words to life for the listener! That’s exactly what’s happening here! Slick flows, well timed rhythm, incredible lyricism and an unmatched charisma! Pair that with chemistry of two of the strongest MC’s in the game right now and you have a recipe for an EP that just can’t and didn’t miss! This might be the hardest 12 minutes you’ll hear all year so tune in!
