Wow, it seems Rulerz Inc is starting to accumulate a strong crew in their ranks and not to sound too bias but this might be my new favourite member! A man with a voice that could strangle you through the headphones themselves! Accompanied by your usual suspects of producers and you’ve got yourself a banger on your hands! Let’s talk about it!
This is the brand new album by MC -MEAN Mo with Production credits from
-Sinamatik
-Gold Magnum Opus
-SMG Beats
-TheBeatDealers
-AloMega
-Bigg Classic
And with feature from
-Mr. Ripley
-Mo Love
And this one (as I not so subtly hinted at above) might be my new favourite release by this group yet. Why? Well firstly the performances by the MC himself.
Someone with a dope ass name my I had ‘My Energy Annihilates Negativity’ genius, and he’s got this one of a kind voice that’s tailor made for a gritty, raw album as he utilises his crushing vocals that remind me of a mix between RBX & Fredro Starr! A deep and murderous style that makes each word spoken feel like bricks on the track!
What’s even more fascinating is the fact his lyricism is in depth and interesting! It’s like he’s a street poet that mixes brash and bragging wordplay with some thought provoking wisdom and introspection! Combine that with how he enunciates his bars and you’ve got an all around combo that can’t dream of missing!
Everything he says feels gigantic! Whether he’s saying ‘Rakim is my Hip Hop 5’ or ‘Sleeping on me? Do it in a coffin’ such a devastating approach to his music that makes everything so infectious from this guy!
He feels like a secretly kept weapon in the camp that they’ve waited till the end of the year to unleash!
His chemistry with the small amount of features is reasonably impressive! Considering they should all be group family I expected nothing less and they don’t disappoint! Definitely add some amplification to the album in question!
As far as the production goes. Just as the MC work these feel like the most gritty and larger than life beats I’ve heard yet! Which is saying something because I’ve been on these producers waves all year and this feels like their strongest effort yet! I’ll highlight a few!
We have tracks like -Humbly which has this haunting presence to it. There’s those eerie piano keys in two different layers! One deep the other a high pitch shriek! Those are combined with some hypnotic drum patterns and what sounds like a UFO/SCI FI synth chords in the background! This track on some X-Files shit!
We have -God Barz which brings the grandeur to the album with those looped choir vocals combined with those thudding bass and minimal drum work!
There’s also that subtle use of what sounds like 2 seconds of violin strings in the background! Towards the end of the track you can hear some piano keys when the rest of the instruments go silent to add some extra texture!
What about the finale track -Gracious this one has this supreme soul vibe! From that close cut snippets vocal harmonies that takeover the track in the forefront that’s accompanied by some high pitch synth style strings which has some thick bass and mesmeric drums to match!
This reminds me a bit of old school Kanye West in execution as well as a hint of gospel influence mixed in!
This is definitely a banger of a record. The rapper brings such a powerful atmosphere to the record while the producers and features help elevate said performances! Definitely one not to sleep on!
