U Really?

You already know what time it is! We got a brand new single by one of the more vivid storytellers in the hip hop industry. I remember when I covered his album -A Beautiful Fucked Up World and how surreal he can get with the pen and it seems on this one he’s looking at the landscape and asking the question -U Really? This is the Brenda new single by MC -Slime Luciano and Producer -swahmi and together they drop this 1 minute and 38 seconds of tough gritty shit that will make any fake persona think twice before acting hard. Let’s talk about it. Firstly, we can discuss the performance side of things as we might of gotten the most cerebral and raw verse yet from Slime. As I discussed in the intro he’s using this single to question the authenticity of those around him, in his culture and asking if they are really about it. On this track he delivers a ridiculously tough, detailed and malice demonstration of bars that will impress any hip hop fan! I love how he utilises everything from that chorus to the puns he uses to demonstrate this narrative. This is effectively his memento declaring ‘Only The Real Should Continue’ my favourite pun of his on this track is -like Pentagon Jr, I’ll be that face in your nightmares! Such dope bar and combined with his in your face delivery, his nonsense approach and his borderline guttural tone he makes every verse feel like bars of gold in weight and it’s definitely an experience to hear! As far as the Production goes we have -swahmi who finds away to match the tone of the performance to a tee with this absolutely incredible, eerie and haunting instrumental that lies within chaos itself! You’ve got those looming chord progressions in the background that have this ridiculous echoing feel to them that’s combined with these sombre style piano keys that feel like Satan himself is placing down these keys! Intense as all hell! This beat also has a hypnotic drum loop and some of the thickest bass I’ve ever heard! As well as all that there’s some sci fi sounds mixed into it towards the end that sounds like your being abducted by UFO’s truly wild! I love how he was able to not only match Slime but create enough of a destructive atmosphere that it gives the listeners goosebumps! Truly amazing work! For a song that’s less than 2 minutes in length this track is incredible for being able to establish a mood using both that wrenching beat and that powerful, uncensored verse by Slime! They share a great chemistry and hopefully we can hear more of them in the future!
