When was the last time you heard a few tracks and had fun? When I think of ‘fun’ hip hop I can’t help but teleport back to the days of acts like -Kid N Play -Fresh Prince & DJ Jazzy Jeff -A Tribe Called Quest -De La Soul Music that didn’t really have an agenda to follow just infectious rhythms and quirky yet enjoyable performances! This is in that same category. A few key tracks to sit back, sip a beer to and just enjoy life! Let’s talk about it! This is the brand new collection of tracks by MC’s -Memphis Reigns and Taggin-T with Production handled by -Taggin-T. On this occasion we have two tracks -Worldwide Rhythm -Make Ya Wonder On the opening track we have this 80’s funk inspired instrumental with those P-Funk style chord progressions with that groovy bass and hypnotic drums! This is definitely a beat that I can imagine being played in the same scene of the ‘House Party dance off’ just in a different part of the house! It has the same harmless, dance music energy that is reminiscent of that era! Stripped back production filled with joyful sensations! On the second track it kind of reminds me of one of those late 80’s early 90’s purposely instrumental tracks that most albums would have. Like Public Enemy ‘Terminator X To The Edge Of The Mic’ in the fact of those ridiculous scratches that work across that looping beat with the simple use of heavy drums, thick bass and droning strings! A real throwback to the gold era of hip hop! Some kind of shit I’d expect Run-DMC to rap on! The actual rapping (as I compared in the intro) is just light with a touch of competitive thrown in. I feel like these two are in the studio just having fun and trying to see who can come up with the better bars and lines for the songs. Exactly like the rap battles (before the rise of gangster rap) harmless brotherly showdowns and that hint of nostalgia is really hitting home on this one! The flows are steady, consistent and full of passion, conviction, good chemistry and sharp lyricism! Out of a two track release what more do you want? Let yourself relax and enjoy a unique experience (in this day and age at least) and embrace the artistic process of two men who are here to give you a blast!
