What I love about this man’s work is his dedication to ‘intensity’ he makes every new album feel like a different car crash in sonic form or audio bank heist! He has that effect on people. Now teaming up with one of the strongest producers in our generation? Get ready for an action scene x100! Let’s go!
This is the brand new collaboration project between MC -Gamblez Tha Lucky Bastard and Producer -Stu Bangas with extra production credits from -Young Bangas on ‘The Game That I Play’ and mix and mastering from -Gibby Stites and features from
-Hanzo Blades
-Honey Dinero
-Tone Spliff
-Jak Progresso
-Smeag Scientist
-Akua The God
-ERB
-Lord Goat
-Versa Tilla
And as I tried to emphasise in the intro, every time Gamblez drops a new album it feels like your GAMBLING with your life because the savagery, intensity and energy he brings is bar none. It’s like he’s intentionally trying to cause havoc everywhere he goes whilst bringing back the solid state of quality hip hop with each apocalyptic step he takes forward track to track, album to album.
On this 17 track album we hear Gamblez in his most lethal BEAST MODE yet! Every line and bar felt like sharp lyrical shrapnel shredding Suits super seamlessly! He’s on a brand new attitude and atmosphere with these attributes! Cold hearted, ruthless in execution and bringing to the forefront one of the best and most dynamic act of penmanship I’ve heard yet!
My favourite line of the record had to be easily ‘Your a sick fucking joke, like a clown puking’ ridiculous bar that gives you a small taste of the kind of wordplay you can expect from the man on this one!
The quality of features he brought to the crime spree? GOD DAMN! What a sight to behold. Talk about a ‘terror squad’ a whole range of straight vocabulary strong mercenaries who are ready knock your lights out and just keep on walking with bloodied Jordan’s on the concrete! Truly savage.
My favourite line up of features has to be on track 4 ‘Lookin Sidewayz’ as we consist of both -Hanzo Blades and Honey Dinero! Both are dominant spitters in the culture right now and pair beautifully with the Bastard himself!
When we look at the production side of things we have the mad titan himself Stu fucking Bangas who if you don’t know by now then this album ain’t for you! He’s the definition of a household name and he brings his prime Michael Jordan Bulls performance to the forefront with these beats!
Let’s discuss track 4 again because that beat is KILLER! From that insanely heavy bass strings, those infectious cuts and scratches mixed with that smooth flute sample and heavy drums! There’s also this scattering style keys that shimmer throughout the song in a 8 second interval!
I also love how Biggie Smalls is sampled in the chorus! Gives a proper homage to the king himself across this beat!
We have the track -Ghost Town which has one of the more unique instrumentals I’ve ever heard from Stu. On this one we have this luscious vocal sample that snippets every 4-5 seconds that’s combined with those plucked acoustic style strings, hypnotic drums and this almost bagpipe sound that runs throughout the entire song that gives a eerie vibe to the song as a whole!
What was a real interesting beat to me was on -The Game That I Play! Why? Because this is the one song done by Young Bangas! He adds a variety to his more experienced father and it ended up being a stand out in the album for its refreshing taste!
This one has these looping haunting piano chords that’s combined with some sterile, striking bass lines, drum patterns with those scattered sound effects that can be heard popping up throughout the track which feels like sonic Easter eggs!
Gamblez personally told me this would be a ‘game changer’ album and man does it ever live up to the hype. Whatever expectations you think you have for this album, raise them higher! And then a few more notches! Because not only do Gamblez and Stu have perfect chemistry but the features they utilise are the cherry on top. So whether you’re a 80’s kid, 90’s, 2000’s whatever the fuck you are! A 50’s kid rocking in a hospital bed THIS IS WHERE YOUR EARS NEED TO BE!
