One of my favourite things about doing reviews is the discovery of the vast talent in the underground! I swear every new day is a handful of new, hungry and passionate artists trying to make a name and this time is no different! A rapper and producer who are trying to set the world on fire! Let’s talk about it! This is the brand new single by MC Cold Medina and Producer Sponatola and the pair drop this lavish 2 minutes exactly that has enough energy and atmosphere to make even the angriest man relax! Let me explain! So, if we begin with the beat side of things. We hear this delicate representation of boom Bap in its most surreal form. You’ve got those main keys that go off in that intricate rhythm across the entire track! That is combined with some trademark hip hop drum patterns and thick bass strings! The genius behind Spon’s instrumental is that he was able to transform only a handful of layers into this graceful, smooth and infectious piece of music that makes you instinctively want to come back time and time again! Alongside him is of course the rapper Cold and just as his name implies he comes through on this beat like a gust of brazen wind that chills all the surroundings with his below zero flow, lyricism and snow like charisma that sends a breeze up the culture and forces everyone to take notice! I loved how he approached track. He thought of everything! From a light and gentle rhyme scheme that was somehow equal parts powerful and soothing! To his impressive use of vocabulary and ability to paint a vivid picture using his excellent penmanship! The way he utilises the chorus was also terrific! He could have just kept that shit simple but nah he made that passage fluent and hypnotic! A sentence that will stay stuck in your head for the next week at least! He was smart enough to understand the whole situation. Bring to the table sharp and cunning wordplay accompanied by a smooth performance. Keep the verse short to maintain the attention span of the current times AND don’t forget to make the hook addictive. He really did everything right and that’s why this track is one of those you can’t ignore! Have you heard this track yet? What did you think about it!
