Sometimes I like to travel back in time to cover shit I missed prior to my website being launched or just stuff I couldn’t get to in time when they initially released. But today we are going WAY BACK! 16 years ago to be exact. To cover a EP by a man who is clearly a veteran of this shit and deserves the respect he’s due! So let’s talk about it! This is the 2010 EP by Producer -E_Buddha. With 5 tracks and a whole set of sounds and vibes to go along! So, let’s discuss these 5 tracks in length! With the opening track -Oceanview we have this soulful and 80’s inspired laidback vibe that consists of these synth style chord progressions and luscious keys that sync with this trademark and traditional hip hop 808 sounding beat that runs through the entire track! There’s also what sounds like some ocean wave sounds deep in the background that you can hear isolated for a few seconds before the rest of the instruments come back but truly a dope and infectious beat all around! We have next the track -gelato43 which has what sounds like a 70’s improvement montage scene soundtrack! You’ve got those raw hits popping in the background that I can’t actualy identity the instrument of but that’s accompanied by some smooth drums and this consistent chord progressions that make this feel like an irresistible blast of the past (which technically it is) On track 3 -grabba he switches the script up where we are introduced to this blasting vocal performance that wraps around the entire track!with this foreign tune that I loved so much! This one has a unique bounce to it with those delicious plucked strings and groovy drum beats as well as what sounds some bass drums? Or some form of drums being hit in the background that added some hella texture to the track! Track 4 -jumper we hear E on his most grand shit I’ve ever heard him on wow! Although this is only a minimally layered instrumental it feels like a score to the avatar anime! You’ve got the combination of that heavy, theatrical tribal style vocal harmony that kicks you in the face and steals your lunch money! Combined with the heavy bass and thudding drums this one just feels fucking special! I felt like I was hit with main character syndrome on this one! I could listen to this beat for hours! On the final track -Polar Springs we end things on a smooth and soulful note with a beat I can imagine Luther Vandross spitting on! With that angelic vocal harmony that runs throughout the entire track, some springy keys, hypnotic drums and some subtle bass this one is the atmosphere driven closer to end it all! For context. I was 16 when this came out! And it still hits hard! Make sure you go support and give this banging time capsule a listen!
