Escabeche: Tapas 2

This (for me) was one of the more anticipated drops for me. Because of how highly ranked the first one was I was curious to see just how this duo took the sequel, In what direction the sounds went and just how it would turn out and now I have my answer! So let’s talk about it! This is the new EP by MC -Bar Samyaza and Producer -Oso Blanc and the combination create a 20 minute sonic adventure spread over 6 tracks that I guarantee the world is going to want to hear! Let’s star with Bar real quick. I’ve of course heard a few of his drops already and what he’s capable of but on this one he sounds more majestic then ever in his performances. He sounds similar to the legends such as -Ka and how I mean that is how he utilises his free lance bars that feel less manufactured and more personal and his own inner thoughts come to life. From the opening track to the end hearing his smooth and flawless flow that he combines with his extensive pen game, incredible lyricism and a surreal sense of vivid details that make you mentally transport into his mind and see the scenarios he’s talking about! I love how at some point of most these tracks he just goes off in a talking point where we just hear him speaking to the song inbetween the verses and the chorus work. It’s this laid back and introspection he provides across the track that makes him one of the most interesting acts in the game right now. He’s on nobody’s time but his own. He’s patient, focused and dedicated to building his own unique craft not some bullshit club banger that will last a few minutes in the minds of the audience but instead creating EP’s and Albums that last a lifetime. Also the fact he’s doing this featureless! Another home run point to remember. He doesn’t need anyone else to hype what he knows he has in the bag. He’s already a powerhouse lyricist with the gift of gab most wish they had and he doesn’t waste a single second of it! Easily one of the strongest in the game. Speaking of strong we have Oso the beats to Bar’s mic and my god does he blow me away. I thought the sounds on the first ones were brilliant? He’s upped his game further than I thought was possible, he turns these 6 tracks into absolute masterpieces! Let’s talk about them! We have tracks such as the intro -Jugo De Parcha which takes minimal to a whole new atmosphere! Combining the likes of those lush jazz horns in that mesmerising loop that’s accompanied by that subtle vocal snippet in the background with those bass strings and lively drum pattern! There’s also a deep male vocal snippet that appears throughout the track also to give it some further texture! There’s the track -Gonna Make It which sounds straight ripped from the mid to late 2010 era poetry/art rap lane as we hear the mix of those delicate piano keys, subtle bass and surreal drums that’s wrapped up with those gorgeous Jazz horns that legit gave me goosebumps! I ain’t gonna lie this song relaxed me so much I found it hard to type this review because I kept drifting into a peaceful deep sleep that I wanted to stay in but was forced to stay awake and write this! But to me the magnum opus of the whole album is the song -Hourglass. I mean HOLY FUCKING SHIT what a beat. If I found it hard to stay conscious from that last track this was the final boss! All I can describe this as is heavenly ASMR vibes! This sounds like sounds the angles in heaven accidentally dropped onto earth and we weren’t meant to hear! We’ve got that sharp violin strings, those super light vocal snippets that loop around the track, those beautiful piano keys that all combined into one spiritually powerful track that is straight meditation fuel! As the album goes on with the last three tracks we do get into more boom Bap/Spanish cultural vibes that I did admire but those 3 opening tracks just hit on a whole different level for me that I had to point out specifically! Man, this EP is literally out of this world. If the first impressed you, this one will blow you away! Just take my word on that!
