Ever since I heard this man on the album -THECOSTOFGOLD I knew he was gonna be a problem! Showcasing one of the most ruthless flows we’ve ever heard. THEN we see him team up with ??? And deliver a whole album full of bars to further prove his status and ability in the culture being able to go toe to toe with one of the best rappers in the industry! Now, we see him team up with arguably one of the best hip hop producers we have! So am I excited? That’s too low of an understatement! Let’s get into this! This is the brand new album by MC-CODENINE and Producer -VINYL VILLAIN and together they drop this heavy 16 track project with the likes of -Chyna Baejing -??? -BLUEHILLBILL -JUNELYFE -NYEUSI LOE -KIL THE ARTIST And I can’t lie, this has to be the most fluent and sharp I’ve heard CODENINE since his last duel album with -??? I mean we’ve all known how capable he is for a minute now but to hear him on this scale, alongside such ridiculous production and going bar for bar against the undergrounds biggest hitters! It’s a vibe that’s hard to beat. From the opening track onwards, he’s sent full speed ahead with no breaks. We get to hear on this album is exceptional timing, his insanely smooth cadence and rhythm work where words just slip out of his brain ontop paper in the most profound way possible! Across all his projects and this one I don’t think I’ve ever heard a misplaced or untimely verse/bar to speak of. He’s just that good with his delivery and penmanship. The way he’s able to active the imagination of the listener by blending in his vivid imagery, describing situations he’s either been through or cooked up. From drug talk, to violence to more profound moments of just pure flex of vocabulary to remind the culture of his S+ tier abilities as a rapper! He’s got it all and he flaunts it on this album. It’s even more evident when you describe the tracks he raps on with features! Of course his track with ??? Was exceptional (as we all just heard a full album of it) you’ve got the smooth chemistry between him and -Chyna Baejing on track 3 as they rekindle flames like they did on former tracks like ‘23&ME’ on her own album! A track alongside -Bluehillbill would be one for the ages regardless as they are both revered for their smooth and fluent flow and cadence while presenting their own unique presences and vocal characteristics! Another track I loved ‘collaborating wise’ was on track 15 as we hear CODENINE go toe to toe with -Kil The Artist. I wasn’t expecting the synchronicity to be so good but it was! Both men elite in their respective lanes coming together to massacre their respective sections to make for a semi finale track for the ages! When we discuss the production side of things we have to discuss a man who always loves to put on a cinematic performance on the beats. From bringing a ‘Lord Of The Rings’ inspired album to life on Borirock’s project! Or bringing the aesthic of ‘Goodfellas’ to life on the -BlueHillBill’ project! Regardless of the project he’s a man who can turn your album cinematic as hell and this album is definitely no exception as we hear a chemistry most would die for! We have tracks like -2TONEBENZ which starts off with these sounds that remind me of an alien invasion! These sci fi noises that take the first 5 seconds of the song. Only to progress into this dark, gritty somehow hollow sounding track that is definitely unique! You’ve got those heavy chords that have this sunken, abyss like quality to them! That’s combined with what sounds like drips of water dripping over cold hard cement. This is one of the most eerie yet funky beats I’ve heard all year and it syncs well with CODENINE’S verses! I liked the minimal nature of the track -SUITEATTHERITZ with those long winded strings in that looping motion that’s combined with those shrieking synth style keys in the background and an overwhelming atmosphere that makes this feel like a dark, empty room that your trapped in! This is the track -Chyna goes off on and kills the later half of the track! The song -AMERICASMOSTHAUNTED has this dark yet soulful instrumental with what sounds like a rhythmic flute sample that’s combined with those thudding drum patterns, light and intricate keys and heavy bass! This is a beautifully layered track that has -Bluehillbill takeover the background end of the track! I love the track -DOWNTOASCIENCE as well. This has such a fever dream feel to it. From those angelic chord progressions that feel straight dropped from the angels! Combined with some delicate string work and synth chords! With some light/subtle bass work. This is the track that we hear the flawless chemistry between him and -Kil The Artist! Who nailed the second half! This album is just as dope as I expected it to be! A supreme lyricist, powerhouse features and a criminally underrated producer known as the VILLAIN! This is an album you definitely don’t want to sleep on!
