SLIK JACK INTERVIEW (YESTERDAY AIN’T TODAY’S PRYCE)

1. When did this album start in the creation stage?  :Peace whats good G ✌️ i dont have an actual date but i'd say around April- ish maybe late march or something like that ... 2. When you first made an album with Pryce, was it always the plan to create a trilogy or more? Or was it all spontaneous? :Honestly 1 song was the initial task , wich ended up as a project . The first project ' Everyone's Gotta Pryce '  was so organic to make it only made sence to try another , And then we did ' The Pryce You Pay ' wich was well received and the rest is history. 3. I’ve noticed across the trilogy you’ve had alot of the same names and features. Why is this? Or is it more ‘if it’s not broke don’t fix it’ mentally? 
:Truth is , is Vince and I both have similar artistic views and a need for cohesiveness when it comes to creating these projects . When working on our second project we went back to our first and searched for elements we could carry across to blend them together , without making it seem like a pt.2 . For ex: Quinten Tarantino would use the same actors in different movies yet the movies never had the same plot or feel . 4. When you go into a new album (especially a sequel with Pryce) how do you make sure you’re not being repetitive or stagnant and making sure you always come up with something new and fresh! 
:It really all boils down to how one is feeling really when making these projects especially ' sequels ' . If your  going in thinking of making a sequel itll deffinitly be stagnant and repetitive but Vince and i start projects with a new feel , with a new canvas to paint on everytime . 5. When did you first meet Pryce? And who reached out to who to make an album together? 
:Vince and i have known each other id say .. since 2010 ish . We were in a rap collective Named ' G.I.G.A.N.T.E ' yea i know, terrible name right .... anyways that was short lived and then many years later vince hit me up and it just made sence for us to build together . 6. Was there any track on here that was for whatever reason a challenge for you to record compared to the others? 
:Every Track is a challenge ! Lol , so alot ppl dont know this but i write tracks ' my verses ' prior to the beat being made .. let me explain . When i start a project i find a random beat or just a drum and i write tracks and record them on those beats or drums then i bounce the vocals only with the BPM , Once i have all my verses and vocals recorded i then send them to Vince and we build the soundscape together . Where it really gets hard is when i have certain flows or melodys where we have to dig and dig for a sample that would be in the same key or works with the vocal. 7. Are you the type to record many takes before the finished verse or are you more of a ‘first take energy’ type of guy? :I usually record a song within an hour . i make sure to know my verses as much as possible and remember the feeling im trying to project befor going in . 8. In your own words, what does this album say to you? And how is the message of this album different than the other two so far? 
:This project is a vibe ! To me these 3 albums dont really lean on each other  that much , they all have a different energy and style . But this particular album is different in a sence where the samples are different to what weve done prior , its a universe of its own to say the least . The flows i use are different i really put alot of emphasis on the swagger on this one especially in the hooks . I feel like this album can survive outside of the underground rap scene it has a certain light hearted-ness . 9. Who would you say are your musical influences? And how would you say they have shaped you in this hip hop game? 
:I would definitly credit allllll of the 90s early 2000 New York hip hop music 100% , Merging that kind of music with the life i was living during those years and the people i surrounded myself with deffinitly shaped who i wanted to be musically 10. If you were stranded on a desert island and only able to listen to 2x albums of any genre and artists for the rest of your life, what are they and why!  :id be too busy tryna get the fuck off that island to listen to music lol but lets say there were beutifull woman and good food on that island i guess id want to bump some Tribe Called Quest or some Bill Withers ... deffinitly some smooth shit with flavor to stay positive .
