Smooth Decorum

Man, I can still remember my first review of this man’s projects. That sensational spark, that smooth exterior it felt like I was on cloud nine. So getting the opportunity to cover more? Say less. With excitement in my soul, let’s talk about this! This is the 12th Of February 2025 record by MC O.G Proce$$ with Production from -Tommyhil -Molly kiLLa -15 Gramz -Jae 1 with features from -JordanE420 -RealWolfGang -Quincy $mith -king dif -David Quintana And across these 9 tracks we get close to half an hour of hip hop bliss that really only O.G is on right now! Let’s start with the production aspect first. From the very first second on the intro track -Cognac Thoughts & Kush Intro/Instrumental we immediately get hit with this gorgeous effect of high pitch keys, what sounds like maracas mixed with these dreamy synth chords and funky bass and drums that makes me feel like I’m listening to the clouds themselves if you stuck them with an AUX chord! The fever dream doesn’t stop there as we have examples like -Smoking By The Detroit River (which already sounds like a vibe) and they don’t disappoint with the sonic execution! On this one we have those Jazz style chords that sound absolutely harmonic and beautiful! The type of notes that can relax you immediately. This is paired with some lively horns and some funky drums and keys in the background that adds as the supportive cast to the main chords going off in the forefront! We have tracks like -Mid West Hittas which has this groovy melody to it that’s featured with those synth style keys that loom ever so subtly in the background that’s accompanied by that 808 style hip hop beat and some thick bass that makes this feel like an early 2010’s Mac Miller type production that I fell in love with Instantly! Once again (as it comes to no surprise) but O.G himself found a way to incorporate his feelings, charisma and charm into each track so you can feel as he wears his heart on his sleeve and delivers some of the most passionate and inspiring performances you’ve heard period. I love how lively he always sound on these tracks, he’s not just saying words in a collection he’s manifesting his pen to turn into this blend of positive thinking and vivid imagery where you can feel and imagine yourself In the situations he’s described! I think more than anything it’s his reverence that i appreciate. Sure just like any other rapper mainstream or otherwise he has his boasting bars and his bragging lines but they don’t feel cocky and he doesn’t lean on them as others would. Hes talking his game while providing a thoughtful and genuine pen game that fits the smooth and mellow production he equipped himself with. The features on the other hand they are different and follow their own consistency and vibe which also is nice because it adds versatility to the album! No point hearing the same person twice over. If you’re gonna include a feature make sure they are different then the main MC and that was accomplished here! They were original without breaking the established feel of the record so a win win in my book! Look, as far as I’m concerned this is another strong album. It’s so refreshing to hear a record that is by all accounts going against the grain and driving in its own lane and I feel most if not all hip hop heads will appreciate the sound!
