The Dark Forest Hypothesis

I always find it intriguing when an artist tries different approaches to their music. I think it’s so interesting because you don’t see it happened too often in the mainstream and when it does it’s normally not well received. Whether we talk Lil Wayne going Rock or Snopp Dogg going reggae it’s generally a bad sign but in the underground the real talent underground that with change should come quality and with that we get to introduce a pair who have decided to take a U turn and go a different direction and the culture is all the better for it! So let’s go! This is the brand new album by the collaborative effort of -B1 The Architect and Producer -FlashBang Jimmy as well as names such as -G Fam Black -subax -D-Rec -Mxntis -E. Smitty -Loe Pesci -Le Zeppo -Daniel Son -Dj Goadman -Edison Av And the turn in style I was hinting at in the intro is a sinister one because we are seeing B1 take his deepest dive into sonic depravity yet. A man who is testing the limits of his imagination and his penmanship to swim the waters of a more serious atmosphere and he pulls it off fantastically! Let’s talk production first because him and Flashbang are like a criminal syndicate driven by terror to create these insane instrumentals that force you to stay up at night or listen to this album early in the morning! So many spine chilling tracks and beats! Such as -Acid In The Ghetto which has this combination of sharp chords in a classical precision that’s accompanied with some lucid strings and heavy drums! Sounding like a haunted Picasso painting come to life! There’s the track -CLOCKWORK HELL which has this truly eerier introduction that evolves into this boom Bap means dark ambient energy with those duo layered chords combined with high strung synths and hypnotic drums that feel lively as hell! Real Jason from Friday The 13th type shit! Or what about tracks like -ROCK BOTTOM which sounds like a downward spiral in music form. You’ve got those what sounds like cash register sounds combined with some extremely heavy bass and a drone like aesthetic that makes this feel like a nightmare on legs! Especially with those minimal style drums! When discussing the lyrical side of things we have B1 (and company) who all sound like they got sucked into the deranged world of sinister intentions that this album builds on. As if they’ve all turned to the dark side for one round of doom performances that is sure to make you look twice around the room while listening! We all know B1 is a fantastic producer and lyricist. So to hear him utilise this more unhinged style is a refreshing turn of events as we get to see just how creative he can go with and more importantly just how far he’ll go! Across the 11 tracks spanning across the 35 minute run time B1 brings a more evil representation of his well established pen game, his sharp delivery as well as his fluency on the beats but with a twist! He’s more aggressive this time around, more focused, intentional with his word placement, more savage and a hell of a lot more intent on creating as much chaos as he possibly can! I feel that’s why he brought the list of names with Him! To rise up and bring the underground apocalypse! Only the strongest spitters and producers to the forefront to decimate any mediocrity in the culture and burn down the landscape with dope bars and even doper features! B1 was crazy for this one. I wonder going into the future of his career just how far he’s going to with his or will this be his twisted magnum opus? Regardless this is an experience you won’t forget!
