This review holds a special place to me. Why? Because I’ve been friends with this man for more then 4 yours now. Back when I had my metal podcast ‘SAGAS’ back when I heard about his old music project ‘Icarus Landing’ all the way to now. He’s been a man who I could tell from our earliest conversations that he’d be a creative powerhouse in whatever music lane he decided to take and this brand new EP by his new act proves that point and more! So without any further a due let’s get into this music review! This is the brand new EP by Band -Oceans On Other Planets run by Nick Wolf! 5 tracks each with their own style, atmosphere and grand sonic design unlike anything you’ll hear in the music world today! Starting with track one -Die Alone. Firstly I love that synth/electronic chords that helps progresses the song into this 80’s Synth Pop meets Alt Rock vibe that I fell in love with immediately. From that hypnotic drum Beat, that evolves near the pre chorus into this bass drum rhythm to hype the chorus even more! But for me it’s those sharp and funky strings looping around the track that make this song explosive! I love how in each section of this song there’s different elements! How in the second half he adds these delicate keys to add some more texture to the song! On the second track -Other Side this is the one that came out a while ago! With a music video and all. This was the teaser of things to come that got me as excited for this EP as I was! On this one we hear another atmospheric interlude to kick the song off with those building chords that evolve into this stripped back Alt Rock song with those thick strings working alongside those minimal drums that work in harmony to set the track up for that explosive chorus aspect where we hear those drums and string turned up to a 100 as it blasts your ear drums! And once again, in the second half he includes these light keys to sprinkle some extra emotion to the track! I love how in the third quarter passage there is those hollow echoing chords that sound like water droplets hitting and bouncing off the floor! A truly unique and beautiful addition to the track! On track 3 -Make It Out Alive (Featuring Jay from Orgy) this track provides what I’d say the most cinematic experience on the whole EP. This track is a fucking masterpiece! Let’s break it down. Firstly, we have those escalating electronic style strings that quickly evolve into this smooth and elegant rhythm filled with dreamy guitar patterns, lush drum work and some heavy bass strings to add some weight to the track! Throughout the main singing parts the song strips back a tad with just those methodical guitar and drums remain until we get to the chorus where the instrumentation picks up again just as the start did to make the vocals feel that much grander! I also love those late introduction of those glistening piano keys shimmering in the background that adds even more star power to the song! Also we can’t ignore Jay’s incredible performance at the end of the track with that verse that showcases why he’s one of the most respected vocals in the scene right now! Truly breath taking! On track four -Saturday Night we hear what I’d consider the most -Punk inspired track on the whole EP. We start off with those shredding guitar patterns that remind me of bands like -The Veronica’s a luscious Pop Punk atmosphere that had me grooving my head the entire track. Alongside those guitars we had some absolutely killer drum work and towards the middle of the track this slick guitar solo that had me on the edge of my seat! I also love how you briefly hear some delicate keys at the end to further enhance the climatic ending! On track five -Damaged Goods which was another track I’d already heard prior to this EP release is arguably the most stripped back track out of all of them! From that methodical intro that contains these whisper sounds that add some intrigue to the song! That later transforms into these plucked guitar strings and slow drums that work in harmony to create this swaying rhythm that makes you turn your head side to side in absolute sonic bliss! As the song progresses we have some male singing samples in the background that’s some nice groovy layers to the track! When we discuss the singing of Nick. What I find is that he’s able to blend this style of emotional depth mixed with a natural sense of timing and vocal tones to make this one of the most interesting and memorable performances you’ll hear in all of 2026. Across all these tracks we hear him walk the tight rope between powerful and smooth delivery that elevates each song to a brand new level. He screams ‘vulnerability’ across this EP. As the lyrics and execution of his songs suggest this project is one of soul searching, complete exposure and reinvention. It sounds like he’s transferring his raw feelings, experiences and thoughts onto the page and communicating that to the audience in his form of Alt Pop Punk/Rock fashion with a one of a kind that I guarantee will impress any Rock/Metal fan in the world today! I love his chemistry with -Jay Gordon. They have such similar energy that when Jay jumped on at the end it didn’t feel like an awakes tonal shift or any loss of balance in the vibe of the song itself but rather a fantastically crafted synchronicity between two of the strongest singers I’ve heard of! If I had to choose my favourite track based on his performances I’d have to say the finale track -Damaged Goods damn this song is so fucking funky! I love the infectious sway in his vocals and the variance in his style between the main paragraph and the chorus! This song has a bit of country to it in the way he pronounces his words with that southern twang to them! As well as the grandeur in the chorus part! Just all the different elements coming together in a creative and interesting perspective had me returning to this track a bit more than the others! A truly impressive EP by this man! Again I’ve known how talented he was way back when. To see him do incredible numbers and music of this caliber it just makes me excited for his future work that I’ll be here to cover!
